Hand dyed yarn is back in the shop, and everyone over here is doing a happy dance. Okay, it’s just me dancing. I wanted to jump back into dyeing with a bright colorway, and that’s exactly what happened with this one.
We are currently getting solar panels put on our roof. It’s really noisy with all of the drilling. In a few weeks the house will be solar powered, and I couldn’t be happier. All the yarn doings here will technically
I took Kiddo to the orthodontist yesterday, and brought my knitting with me. I’ve been doing that lately. I do a lot of running around and have been making sure I have some knitting with me. All I wanted to do was finish casting on 92 stitches and use the long tail cast on (because I can finally do it, but mess up the length on the tail every time…). I was hoping to not mess up. (I did.) The waiting room was packed full of kids with braces and their parents. I felt simultaneously awesome and awkward just knitting away.
Sometimes being an artist can be amazing. Those are the times to hold tight to your heart. You create because you have to do it. It’s love. It’s something that has to come out. Your art makes you a whole person. This is not a post for those times as an artist. This is a post for when you (I) need a pick me up as an artist. A pep talk, if you will.
Man, this is an old design. It was originally published in January of 2009. Can you believe that? It’s been missing from the crochet pattern shop for a long time. There’s a push (from me) to update any old crochet patterns that I still love, and this one made the list. It’s been simplified and is back up in the shop(s). The skull square used to be one of my best sellers. I’m happy to have it back, but I really can’t wait to see what kind of cool skull stuff you all make out of it.
I ordered this undyed yarn months and months ago. Then life got in the way, and it just sat there… waiting for me to dye it into cool yarn. I’ve finally figured out a system that allows me to get a little done at a time. These 2 new colorways are pretty sweet, and hopefully will be repeatable. The third colorway is still in its pan. I’ll rinse it out tomorrow night. It should be ready to list in a few days, but for now, back to these 2 beauties.
It’s all about the computers this week. I finished up my projects, and I really need to get these 4 patterns finished and to the testers. It’s time to buckle down and get these out to you. Being, that it’s me on the computer this week, I don’t have my usual progress pictures to share. Instead, I thought I’d share the crochet and knitting patterns that I want to make for myself or family/friends.
This is for the folks that are currently trying to earn a living wage through selling their art, whether it be paintings, dolls, amazing woodworking, jewelry, or whatever. We should be over the moon, ecstatic, and smiling all the time, because we make beautiful (awesome, insert your own adjective here) things. Then we sell those pieces of art to other people. How lucky are we? We are very, very, very lucky.
