Feast or famine is this year’s theme for crochet orders. Right now it’s feasting time at Knot By Gran’ma. On top of the older order that I was finishing up, I received two wonderful wholesale orders and a request for a custom poncho. The hooks and yarn have been flying. I love it.
This project went exactly as I suspected it would. There were definitely tedious parts from doing the same thing over and over again for long stretches of time. There was a lot of little things that needed to be done, like the 72 suction cups that had to be hand sewn onto the tentacles. There was some cursing and frustration, BUT this turned into an amazing project. I’m thrilled with the outcome.
Life is in some sort of upheaval, apparently constantly over here. I’m finding my days thrown upside down, and there isn’t anything I can do about it. I’m okay with that. It’s a great motivational tool. Can’t control certain bits of your day? Then it only makes sense to focus on the things that I can. My work is really a saving grace these last few months. My work and podcasts… the ashtray, the remote control, the paddle game, and this magazine, and the chair. (I’m totally dating myself on that last part today… it’s cool. Whatever. Google it. Then Tweet Steve Martin, and tell him he’s wonderful.)
There are two major Knot By Gran’ma projects going on right now. One is a custom order (that will eventually be a crochet pattern for next fall) and the other is a monster doll crochet pattern. I have continued to adapt my schedule to work around the kids, and I’m accomplishing more than I hoped. Happy dancing is going on.
It’s been quite the week of custom orders. I had the pleasure of remaking one of my original designs for this order. This is my Sand Dollar Slouch Hat pattern in purple cotton. The yarn worked up beautifully, definitely highlighting those crochet cables.
This week I’m sharing my Chakra Reiki Doll. I make these dolls to order, and lately sales of these dolls (I have 2 varieties that are made to order) have been picking up. It’s very exciting to be able to connect my crochet dolls with other Reiki folks around the world. You can read more about Reiki here if you are interested.
I’ve been planning some changes for my newsletter for a little while. I have been playing with some different formats for a while, and I think I’m finally happy where the newsletter has arrived as far as that goes. I send it out weekly with a little blip from me and the new blog posts for the week. I’ve recently started including the most popular posts for the week also at the bottom. That was kind of important to have squared away.
It’s been a hectic holiday season this year. This was both good and bad… and ultimately ended with our household catching some sort of yuck. Awesome. I’m taking it as a cue from the Universe to SLOW DOWN. I have the perfect slow project in mind… I’ve been idle for almost a week and spent all of one day in bed trying to catch up. I need to do something with my hands, and I don’t feel like cleaning up the disaster (aka my house) yet.
