Today is finally the day that you can make your very own Larry Monster. He’ll hold your stuff, and look awesome doing it. He’s a bit functional art, a bit monster cozy. Mine holds my remote controls in the living room, so I don’t have to worry where the kids or cats may have placed them… a place for everything. I love him.
Everybody changes their mind. It seems to happen frequently, over here, at Knot By Gran’ma. This time is no exception. The original plan to have a crochet pattern for the hat that the Holiday Monster Doll wears, only in a human size(s), has been changed. I can’t get through the hat. It’s endless row upon row upon row, and boring me out of my mind. It’s been quite the effort to only do work that makes me happy. The hat(s) weren’t doing anything close to bringing happiness… only dread… and doom… and gloom. This is why the plans changed.
What about the pink monster for your book? Well… I got sidetracked. This is what happens when you let yourself run out of white thread, making it impossible to finish the cool pink monster that you were working on in the first place. While I was waiting for the thread, I started this new monster. It’s kind of cool… mainly because it’s another monster with tentacles. Yes, I have a thing for monsters with tentacles. Tentacles are cool. Now that I have more white thread, I’m going to finish this monster and then the pink one too.
This is the year. It’s been decided. I’ll have a book out by the end of the year. It’s going to be a self published, crochet pattern book. It’s called, “Monsters That Could Totally Eat You.” I’m going to have it available as a real life book and an ebook (I can do both, right?). This is a very exciting time, and I’m not sure why I’ve been making excuses as to why I couldn’t start right away. I tend to sabotage myself when it comes to projects that I really want to complete. Anyone else do that?
The mini monster crochet pattern is finally tested and up for sale. Crochet yourself a little army of mini monsters, and fill your life with friendly amigurumi monster plush! (You can also sell your finished items made from this pattern… and all KBG patterns. BONUS.) Tell your hooking pals and send me your finished monster to my KBG Facebook page so I can share with everyone!
These monsters are a long time coming… well to the internet, anyway. They’ve been finished for quite a bit, but photographing, editing, and writing out descriptions is something that eventually I’d love to have someone else do for me. I can dream, can’t I? Either way, let me introduce them to you now.
Let’s talk about crocheting a monster doll for a moment. Most of my monsters are free form crochet… as in I have no pattern. My Mini Monsters and Chakra Monsters do have a loose pattern, but only because I’ve made 80 million of them. I think it’s something I should write down one day, and sell as a real crochet pattern. That will have to be for when I stop selling them online and in shops. That might be happening sooner than later by the way. I just have to get through this ginormous next batch of things to do, but it is on the list… way towards the end.
