I’d love to say that I’ve been missing in action from my little chink of cyber space because I’ve been really busy creating new dolls and creatures. Unfortunately I can’t say that, because I haven’t. I have been working on a wholesale chapstick holder order and now am in the midst of a cute little plush frog wearing scrubs. That’s about it as far as the crocheting world of Knot By Gran’ma goes.

The great news though is that Knot By Gran’ma will be having a little bundle of joy… which is sucking the creative life-force out of me right now. I’ve been spending normal crochet time with my feet up while also trying not to throw up on myself. So that’s the update about not getting anything new accomplished. Hopefully this part will pass soon and new creations will be showing up.

There’s been quite a bit of an uproar over at Etsy due to the lack of an actual Dolls & Miniatures section.  Right now a lot of us doll makers, that don’t cater to children are stuck getting our pieces buried under “art”, or “toys” (which they are not), or in my case “crochet”… because I don’t know where else to put them.  So as a quiet sort of protest, I’ve moved 2 of my more expensive pieces to Ebay.  Yes.  Ebay.  I’m not proud, but I am curious to see if they at least get noticed.  It would be nice to actually be able to make some sort of income from all of this crocheting that I am doing.  You can go here to see them if you would like.

Blue Monster

Blue Monster is a calming little guy. He’s like the rainy days that you enjoy and is always around for a hug or snuggle. He’s always smiling, as his mouth goes all the way around his little crochet body. He’s never cold, which is kind of a contradiction of his coloring, but will warm your heart with love.

That was the sappiest description I have ever written… which is probably why I like it so much.

This is another one of my monster guys that I enjoy making. There’s something about the fact that his mouth goes all the way around… would his head fall off if he laughed? How does that work? Either way, he’s now available HERE for you to bring him home.

Kiki is one of my favorite dolls. I really love the way her little flippy-doo hair came out, and her assymetrical top is one of the few I’d like to duplicate. Of course I can’t repeat most things that I make, so it’ll have to be an inspiration for other tops. In finishing her, I have finally caught up on dolls with black hair… for some reason the majority of them had blonde or brown or pink hair. She’s great though.

Mama Viper

This doll kind of surprised me when I was finished with her. I didn’t picture her to come out this way at all. She’s definitely got the most personality and is for some reason the tallest of all my dolls… refreshing too.

Mama Viper is pretty in pink and a heck of an artist. She is known to spend her afternoons over a cup of tea with a paintbrush in one hand and a canvas in the other. She also enjoys fine wine and opera.

Brownie Monster

Brownie Monster likes to watch stuff and people. His little eyes are offset so one can look high and the other low. This can also make him seem inquisitive, which he is not… well not really.

I love the way these little critters come out. Each one is kind of a surprise personality-wise. I think he was the first monster where I played with the eye height. It gives him a neat look.

Are completely finished and in the mail! I’m pretty sure I missed the deadline to be in the book, but a girl can only crochet so fast. I have been informed that I made the deadline, which is awesome.  It’s okay though, because the pieces came out fantastic! I only wish that my fingers weren’t so sore…

This particular one is Jen, Tri-headed Cheerleader. I’m not sure if she’s my favorite or if Dino Dame gets the honor. All four of the pieces are to the right on my Flickr thing. Check them out.

Deanna is a really nice girl. She’s into things like shopping, getting good grades in school, and skateboarding. She’s a very well rounded little lady.

She is crochet out of acrylic yarn and stuffed with new premium, polyester fiberfill. Her eyes, lips, and top are crochet out of cotton and sewn securely on. Mary measures about inches 11.5 (29.2 cm) tall and 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) wide.

I really like how the color combinations worked on this doll. Something about her eyes really make the rest of her “pop”.
