What Happens When You Want to Quit?

What Happens When You Want to Quit?

Sometimes I just want to sell Knot By Gran’ma, and walk away from it all. Hubs is working 1 day a week, and I just paid myself $1.50 for last week. Surely I could make a better living opening a taco bar… or a brothel; or a taco, brothel bar. It could be called Taco, Taco, Tacos or something. For real. This comes up every year around this time. Everything slows down, and the case of the Pitty Potties comes to visit. I start thinking about selling the thing that makes me happy, because it’s hard and stupid bills… and it’s hard. (I haven’t quit yet, and I really don’t think it would help if I did.) So…

Spring Cleaning The Crochet Patterns

Spring Cleaning The Crochet Patterns

I have 70 crochet pattern designs that include free, paid, and unavailable crochet patterns. Holy crap! That’s quite the number. I started designing patterns about 14 years ago, and while I love what I’ve been doing lately, I’m cringing at quite a few of these… okay, more than a few. Some. Of. Them. Are. So. Bad. It’s time to thin out the horrible, and reformat the ones worth saving.

Crocheting For Yourself Makes You Happy

Crocheting For Yourself Makes You Happy

Seriously. What are the last few items that you have crocheted for yourself? I used to be really bad at this, but a little motivation to change goes a long way. I crocheted the last Monster Puppet for myself, my upcoming Not a Shawl Shawlette, and the Jackalackackie Hat. I wear the shawlette and hat all the time. Winter soccer practice has been at this creepy (like ax murderer creepy) park, where we have to walk up a giant road to the building with no heat. They have come in handy in keeping me warm.

6 Reasons Crocheters Should Bring Knitting on Everyday Adventures

6 Reasons Crocheters Should Bring Knitting on Everyday Adventures

I took Kiddo to the orthodontist yesterday, and brought my knitting with me. I’ve been doing that lately. I do a lot of running around and have been making sure I have some knitting with me. All I wanted to do was finish casting on 92 stitches and use the long tail cast on (because I can finally do it, but mess up the length on the tail every time…). I was hoping to not mess up. (I did.) The waiting room was packed full of kids with braces and their parents. I felt simultaneously awesome and awkward just knitting away.

Craftivism for Women’s Rights

Craftivism for Women’s Rights

So many attacks on women’s healthcare availability and rights… For real? Women’s rights are human rights, no? I’ve had enough. I’m standing up for women’s healthcare rights. Healthcare for women should be personal, private, safe, and affordable. Women are human beings, the same as men. I’m baffled how my choices regarding my body, affect anyone in this country… probably because my choices don’t affect anyone aside from myself… and maybe Hubs. (We’re a team, and he’s informed… but ultimately it’s my body. Also he’s cool as hell when it comes to women’s issues.) This goes for any other woman.
