Today is the day! The free crochet pattern download is finally finished, and I love him to pieces. He turned out a little harder than I was planning, but in going back through the pattern, I have reworded a few things from the crochet-a-long to make it a bit easier to see what’s going on.
There is a gallery included at the end of this post. I’m hoping that when you finish your doll, you’ll head back here and share a picture of it with us. Instructions for downloading Knotty Knucklehead are towards the end also. This one’s a little different from my normal crochet patterns. I wanted to make him special for you.
I used almost a full skein of yarn for his body and about half a skein for his hands and feet. He’s a bigger monster than I usually make at around 10 inches tall and 5 inches wide at his body… if you go hand to hand, he’s about 12 inches wide. Knotty Knucklehead is awesome for hugs.
The pattern is filled with photographs of what I’m doing. Sometimes I find it hard to picture crochet directions, so that’s where you’ll find pictures to help you along.
Downloading Knotty Knucklehead comes in 2 parts. The first part is his base… the loop head, body, arms, and feet (pictured below). The second part is his eyeballs. You’ll download that also. Both of these patterns are free.
I thought it would be fun to add on different eyes and rings and whatever else you could crochet to make Knotty Knucklehead a true character. These add-ons will be paid crochet patterns but at lower than usual prices… because you’re really only getting extra bits of the crochet pattern. Knotty Knucklehead V.2 is already almost finished. He’s kind of awesome too. You’re going to love them.
When you are finished crocheting up your own Knotty Knucklehead doll, please add your monster doll to the gallery. We’d love to see them all. (By adding your doll, you are giving KBG to share your photo with any links/credit to you/etc… on various social media sites.)
